An Epic Weekend

An Epic Weekend

So last weekend was our single biggest event of the year. Which means that we had mayhem leading into it and mayhem on the night. It also means that this week most of our staff are completely shattered and need to rest. With that said God showed up in a big way.

Just to recap last year we had Trick or Treat to the Fry’s parking lot. We had roughly 8,000 people come along and saw our church expand by over 100 people over the following month. Perhaps one of the highlights was seeing a couple come to know the Lord after the event through our church. Which is exciting to know that bridge building events do something!

For a more detailed explanation of the event, check our Media Salts Write-up.

This year we moved locations and headed to Pacana park, we partnered up with the City of Maricopa, Walmart and some other local businesses and went big. Honestly I had very little to do with the planning and organization for this event. My goal was to capture video and photos of the event. Big praise need to go to Mat Balgaard, who with an army of volunteers pulled together this very special event.

So how did we do?

Well numbers are iffy at best, the best guess is somewhere between 10,000 to 15,000 people showed up. My calculation says we handed out over 100,000 pieces of candy. We had a local write-up in the paper which praised the event. We had to make 3 trip to Walmart to replenish our candy supplies, and we STILL ran out. A big apology to people who missed out. Honestly the event was amazing, it looked like the community had an amazing time. There were some haters which tells me we were onto something, when you show up to love on a community and say thanks, it is always interesting to hear what the criticism was.

For everyone who is interested, here are some of the photos we took of the event.

We followed it up on Sunday with a very special testimony from Walta you can see the extended video in my previous post to this one. Josh preached a powerful message on Mountain moving, and it was possibly one of the most powerful Sunday’s in COC’s history. I love it when God shows up and rocks your world, and then he does it twice in one weekend.

I am including the shortened testimony in this post from Walta for anyone who is interested.

My prayer is still that Jesus was glorified through the event and that we expressed some love to the community.

I managed to do some interviews with a pretty sweet camera at the event, I hope that I can upload them soon to give you some more footage of just how BIG this event was!
